BAKING

I really enjoy baking because it's fun and creative.  I've only just decided to include baking on my website so I am still catching up with some of the past things I've made and finding photos of everything.

"Cake Friday" for 26
Every Friday at school one person in my class bakes a cake or cookies for everyone.

I did this cake Friday and I did two chocolate cakes, covered in chocolate icing and sprinkles.

I really enjoyed baking these cakes as I love baking anyway.  It was very difficult to work out how much I needed of each of the ingredients but I got there in the end and my friends all said it was delicious!

Tortillas, March 2014
Oh Yum!!

These tortillas were delicious.  I loved making them and it was exciting because it was the first time I'd ever made them.
After making them I then made frittatas with cheese in the middle.

I loved these so it was 10/10 from me (even though I made them)!

Easter Cake, April 2014
I used the same recipe for this as the pumpkin cake.  I filled it with a with chocolate filling and then covered it in chocolate icing.

What I did for the topping was I grated white chocolate to make it look like a nest with the mini chocolate eggs in it like birds' eggs.

I then decorated around the outside with more eggs of different sizes and some fluffy chicks.

I did this when I was 9.

Meringue Nests, September 2014
These were delicious!!!  I thought I didn't like meringues and then I tried an Eton Mess at a friend's house and I loved it! So I looked at pictures on the internet and got the idea to make these.  They were very easy and very delicious!
I was 10 when I made them.

Lemon Sorbet
My dad got me to try the lemon sorbet at Zizzi's restaurant and I loved it!

I made this lemon sorbet using an ice cream maker.  It had a lot of lemon juice and a lot of sugar in the recipe!

I did it when I was 9 years old.

Pizza and Garlic Dough Balls
This is my favourite food so I tried making it for myself from ingredients.

The pizza dough was quite easy to make but took a while, and making the dough balls with garlic butter inside was a bit tricky, but it all tasted fab!

I did this when I was 9.

Chocolate "Pumpkin" Cake, October 2013
I made a chocolate cake that looked like a pumpkin for Hallowe'en.  I did it completely by myself apart from a bit of help putting it in and out of the oven.

I got the cake recipe from the BBC website where it showed Edd Kimber making it.  He won the Great British Bake Off in 2010.  The icing design was all my idea.

The cake was pretty easy to make, simple instructions and a simple recipe to follow.  I enjoyed making it even though some bits were hard, such as the icing and decorating.  It didn't quite go as I'd planned and I had to change the mouth because it was a bit too hard to do.  So now it looks a bit happier as well.

I used cocktail sticks to do the lines and then I filled them with the dark chocolate icing.  I used a pasta cutter to do the edges of the leaves.  I used orange, green, black and cream icing.  Some of the dark icing was flavoured dark chocolate and some flavoured caramel.

It was good fun and I really enjoyed it.    I started at about 1 o'clock and finished at quarter past five.  It took a lot of effort and concentration!
